    Hi Rex;
    I believe the SitG website has the issues online that contain the whistle build series of articles. However the website is down, a malware alert pops up when trying to access it. They were working on fixing it but now that Dave Cole has pasted away SitG's fate is up in the air.

    I have.pdf files of the SitG Bangham Whistle series of articles. I can send them to you if you send me an email. The articles are copyrighted to SitG so I won't post them online. But 1:1 exchange is fair use.

    I use part number 9229T33 which is 20 mesh .016 wire, piece 6"X 6" at a cost of $40.07. That piece is much more than you will need for just 1 locomotive. I have found that your stable will grow and you may need several more pieces in the future. In addition, you can strip one length of the wire off an end and use that to secure the mesh to the burner so there is really no need to order a spool of that. If you feel you will never need more than enough to cover one poker burner, send me your address and I'd be glad to send you a piece. LG
    Please let me know you got this, as long as I've been a member I haven't gotten the hang of the PM's thank you
