Default Old Decals?

Friends,
I have a set of old decals. I have used one decal from the sheet and it came apart. Any ideas on how to save them to make then usable?

Ted,

I, too, have a large sheet of specially printed East Broad Top decals, and they are so old they also fall apart.

I think the ink/paint gets old and brittle. You need something to support them as they detach from the backing. It has been suggested that you spray the sheet with clear varnish or [something - Krylon?] That adds some support, in theory. It didn't work for me, but I did not try multiple coats or anything like that.
