Default Passing of David Cooper of Sabre Steam

For those who saw the article on a Sabre Steam coal-fired Lady Anne in the July-August issue of Steam in the Garden and might have considered getting one of your own, sad news: there was a posting on the UK web site www.gscalecentral.co.uk to the effect that Sabre's founder, David Coooper, passed away from heart failure on October 2nd.

The business will be continued by David's son, Rob, but obviously they are preoccupied with other matters right now.

Default RE: Passing of David Cooper of Sabre Steam

Joel, see also the post of October 4, 2010 also in the Live Steam forum.

What is good news is to hear that Rob will continue the business his father started and which became so successful in less than a year's time. Rob, good luck and please keep us informed of your progress and plans. Our prayers are with you and your family.

On October 7, 2010, the date of Ron Brown's funeral, ten Michigan Small Scale Live Steamers gathered to run a memorial steamup. Included, in memory of David was a run of the first Sabre Steam loco to land Stateside. The link to a short video is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKt4kHt3IaI

On the sad side, Bill Kay of our Michigan Small Scale Live Steamers club passed away during that Memorial steamup. It was not a good week.

Regards,

Will Lindley

p.s., I authored the SitG Annette article and had lots of help from both Ron and David.

Default RE: Passing of David Cooper of Sabre Steam

Please accept my apology for my poorly worded notice of Bill Kay's passing.

Bill, who had been seriously ill for some time, passed away while part of our club was having a steamup in honoror of Ron Brown. Bill was not at the steamup, although we received notice of his passing while the steamup was underway.

Regards,

Will
