I am thinking about going to DH myself. Are there rooms available at the Motel close by DH Resort. If the wife comes we will stay in Biloxi I guess. I have only been there one time and getting older every year.
Will pick up my Challenger while there. My 844 is missing in action someplace.

I can't say that I am surprised Jay, sadly DH is a mere shadow of it's old self. I was a regular participant up until 2008 as a dealer selling our Northern Fine Scale range, but by then the Bring and Buy Swap Market next to the pool had killed off the Dealer Room. Who can forget the vibrant chaos and money changing hands in that big room in the early days? By then airline security had had it's affect and steamers voted with their feet. In 2008 my sales did not even cover the rental fee for the Dealer Table and combine that with the cost of a 5 day drive and a total of 9 nights in a hotel and it was no longer affordable. Nowadays I can drive 6 hours and be at Cabin Fever, where I enjoy seeing a whole bunch of old friends, a great three day model engineering show and the fellowship of other 1:32 and 10mm Gauge 1ers..........to be quite honest it's no contest between DH and CF, but I REALLY miss Hank's Jourdan River Steamer at Kiln MS and the products of the Magnolia Brewery!

Sadly, Carol and I will not be making it to DH this year. We have missed the last 4 and this will make 5. We send our best to all.

As a note, Hank and Lori have reopened the Jordan River Steamer. Their Website:

https://www.jrsteamer.com/

Their address is 15152 Mississippi 603
Kiln, MS 39556

This is the same address as far as I can tell, they just rebuilt putting the restaurant above the flood plain.

I hope you all can get there and enjoy the great food.

I'll be there.

BTW, if you signed up, the Diamondhead group sent out the 20 page Steamup information sheet with the names of the registrants. (Before the event instead of after) I think that is a great idea!

There are approximately 100 listed.

BTW, I am reducing my book collection (5 full book cases as of now)
I will be bring to DH some books.

Logging books (some rare), Darjeeling Iron Sherpa 1&2 and Halfway to Heaven, Full set of 8 volumes of A History of the British Steam Trams.

Facebook... What is that??

Only kidding... do you have a link? I am not a user of that site and wouldn't know where to look. The only thing I go there for is the Live Steam swap group since that seems to be where people sell stuff these days

Just search Facebook for "International Small Scale Steamup". Richard Jacobs, one of the organizing team, has been posting live video. (Sometimes they don't seem to start replaying - click somewhere in the time bar at the bottom.)
