The story that I was told was that the RED one reached the highest price ever for a Pannier at an auction many years ago.
The gauge one people present couldn't understand why this incorrect colour red painted Pannier kept going up and up in bids until it reached a never before seen amount.
It turned out to be two wives of G1MRA members who just liked the colour and were determined to get it for themselves.
I hope that you find one at a realistic price.
All the best,

Great story Dave! Sometimes live auctions are great entertainment. Still hunting, providing my Climax sells

Ah, so it is your Climax that has appeared on Ebay from Kokomo Mike. I would be very wary of purchasing an Aster Pannier without a thorough looking at. A lot of things can go wrong with them including the middle built up crank axle developing a "wobble". As did mine. It has taken me a couple of years to get mine close to being right.

But these things can be repaired, spare crank axles are available when you know where to look. Been talking to Ryan Bednark on the ins and outs of Panniers and the old GER(which I am also getting to tinker with). So I am well aware of the issues with the crank axle. The green GWR Pannier I m looking at as well doesn't have these issues. Mike
