Default electronic question, Flashing strobe light

I would like to add a flashing strobe LED light to some of my engines. What are the best options? Kits? I am thinking of 9v operation, not track powered.

Default RE: electronic question, Flashing amber LED

AllElectroinics.com CAT#FSH-100, but it's RED, not amber.

Greg - there are any number of circuits you can build with 555 timers or PICAXE or PIC microcontrollers that will do what you want - just search Google for

555 strobe light led

and you will find them - if you have some soldering skills the construction is quite easy.

There are also a number of PICAXE circuits on my web page that can easily be modified to produce a strobe effect -

Good luck!

BG Micro has a kit (EASY) to put together, I can do it in 5 minutes with a pencil soldering iron.

It's BG Part Number: KITMK102

You can alternate 2 leds & have controls for flash rate. If you wish, just mount one yellow where you wish & hide the other.

I paint the collar silver so it looks more real. Adjust the settings & uses a simple 9 volt battery.
I don't mount the leds on the circuit board, I mount them on leads where I want them.
