Default Will this work for a bench testing

I'm looking for something I can use for bench testing the Bachmann Spectrum (Shay, Climax, 2662, 440, K27) as a DC power supply with out spending a ton of money. Will this one work? It says 1.5 amp. Again this is just for bench testing units, sound, etc.

It should, yes. If you're just running an engine on rollers, or otherwise, on a test bench then it's not going to draw a lot of power and it's probably also not going to be running for a long time. I have an old MRC that failed the smoke test when using it regularly on our layout. After replacing the fried components it's been happily powering up my test track for years now.

I use a small LGB 7va power unit as I expect any LGB engine to run on it or it has a problem, usually the motor. I test RHB dual motor units with motorized pantos with this supply , not much speed but everything will work or there is something to fix!!

I bought an old Tyco HO 12V unit for less than $5. It suffices to prove the wheels turn easily.

Just don't expect to try at full speed, even on rollers you might get to the limit.
