Thanks for raising the matter James. I think you have some good points, and put them well. Even if there's not a 100% agreement, we should be able to discuss such things openly.

I agree its not what it was traffic wise, but otherwise this still has to be one of the best large scale forums, and I belong to several. I would like to see the whole first class requirement to post wanted and for sale posts dropped. I feel it just not needed anymore. None of the other large scale forums have this and I see no problems from it. In fact thier for sale/wanted forums are busier than this one. A free and open trading area should be open to any registered member, just blocked from any visitor. Mikie

Thanks guys, just checked in again. I completely agree, if we can't have such discussions, then what good is the forum in the first place? I'd also have to say that this is still one of the best forums for large scale trains, it's just been a combination of bad luck, setbacks, and economic turmoil that has put the entire hobby on edge, not just us on this forum. It's really only the kitbashers, scratchbuilders, and HO/N scale hobbyists that haven't been hit as hard. I can also see where Aristo Craft closing it's doors put a giant hole in the Large scale market. Hopefully Polk's Next Gen, the new company, will be able to rebuild Aristo's product lines.

To scotty specifically,

The reason Freerails puts Large Scale and O/S scales in one forum page is simply that there aren't enough members to warrant having threads for every niche. If Freerails did that, there'd only be about 15-20 topics for each forum. Like I had said earlier, 1.4k members are registered, and roughly a fifth of those members bother to post.

The downturn in the economy brought peoples buying habits to a screeching halt. Canada fared better but those problems are felt here. It may be a while before the hobby recovers by the economy getting better. Having said that, this is still a great forum. Regards, Dennis.
