Your enthusiasm is admirable, but directly replying to spam is exactly what the spammers want. They really don't care about your negative comments, but your reply tells them that there is someone there and usually results in more of the same.
It also has some possibility (dependent on what route you used) that your account (name, email address, etc.) is now on their 'alive' list.
My strong suggestion is that you continue to report spam through the forum tools, but refrain from personal communications.
