Confirm you have Regner Willi. Looking at vids it looks about the same as a Lumber Jack, at least the throttle does. As long as you can fit the components in loco, or in a tender car of sorts, it can be done. I wanted to fit all the parts on the loco but it isn't going to happen. Gonna need to build a small tender car to hold stuff.
servo to control throttle
Been playing w/ the program for the cruise and it's getting better. Hard to make it smooth on a 3% grade. Downhill is great. Uphill a little gerky when going slow.
If you're only interested in R/C and not cruise then that is easier i'd say. I bought TX and RX from Tony at rcs-rc.com . So far it's working well. I got the TX5 thinking the knobs would give me the most flexibility in the future. I bought a cheap generic sound card that will hold 4 different sounds. I put a bell on it. Can turn it on w/ the TX. Kinda fun. Will get a whistle down the road. And rig up reversing servo.
Sorry, just seeing your post. You like the R/C or the cruise control, or both? I have R/C now, so runs in "cruise" mode or manual w/ R/C. Not familiar w/ the Willi. I'll have to check it out. I think anything is possible, just have to figure it out. Let me know if you have more questions.
I just came across your recent post and I'm surprised one of the people I know on MLS didn't speak up and suggest you get in touch with me.
There are only a three Ga1 live steam owners in Nashville. Of those I'm the only one who pursues Ga1 live steam as a main interest and has running or building experience. We've never had a Ga1 live steam meet here, partly because none of us have a steam-friendly track. There will be a new Ga1 live steamer here soon. I haven't talked with him yet but he has an Accucraft loco on the way.
Unlike most GRs around here I'm All-British and live steam only. I don't have a track, but maybe later this year. Feel free to get in touch at [email protected] or 615/373-5829.
