Good to see you're back at it. I sold my portable to a guy in Canada and am currently building a new one with aluminum frame, dibond top and Sunset Valley track. It has to be ready for the Rochester Institute of Technology train show in mid December.
As an Eagle Scout I applaud any effort to work with scouts. I ran, just last weekend, an Aerocamp where a troop comes to our Brockport Airpost facility for a weekend campout and we teach them what they need to learn for their Aviation Merit Badge. I should look into the Railroading badge some day and consider counseling for it.
Chas here from down near Olean. Talked with you a few years back about a portable layout design. I got a good start on it then life changed. I've been through a divorce and I'm still going through constant battles with the ex. # years now and we've been back to court each year when she changes her mind about something. I was recently asked if I would help with the Railroading badge at the boy scout camp out in Angelica for the Civil War re-enactment days. Impetus to get the portable at least working. It isn't pretty but it was functional with two loops of track. I will need to re-learn this website and find all my other links as I've once again got the railroading bug. I ended up purchasing legs on Ebay. Folding and adjustable height. They worked great! My connections between sections are not great but are functional.
